RESILIENCE & RECOVERY PROGRAM

#READYReSETGOEatFilipino Initiative
(June 30 - July 30, 2020)

#ReadyResetGoEat Filipino is an initiative of the Filipino Food and Restaurant Association of Canada (formerly Pinoylicious Filipino Food Movement) to support Filipino-owned restaurants and other food businesses in Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a month-long campaign aimed at encouraging Ontarians to explore Filipino food and to patronize local Filipino food businesses. In the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), some of the hardest pandemic-hit food ventures are owned by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)/Filipino immigrants. Many of them joined the restaurant industry in the last five (5) years taking advantage of the buzz created by the Filipino Food Movement in mainstream North America. During this pandemic economic turmoil, these very small independent Filipino entrepreneurs are seen to have poorer fighting chance yet , they continue to inspire Canadians with their grace and courage. In the past weeks, we have witnessed a growing number of Filipinos in the local food and beverage industry joining hands in feeding the frontliners of this pandemic.

OTHER WAYS TO SHOW SUPPORT

We continue to discover changes in our daily lives during this COVID-19 crisis. We are yet to see the extent of what we deem as the “new normal”. Of course, it is likely that it will not always be possible for us to visit restaurants and enjoy dining out. When supporting restaurants and other food businesses, please do so with caution and pay attention to our health and infection control standards. Of course, there are other safe and sensible ways to support this initiative.

  1. Spread the word. We have the power to save one another during this time of pandemic. By promoting these Filipino food businesses to your family and circle of friends, you are helping many of these small entrepreneurs improve their fighting chance.

  2. Join our social media tribe. Every time you post images of Filipino food and pictures of our local Filipino restaurants in Ontario ignites more interest among Canadians to explore Philippine cuisine. We want them to desire the Filipino food experience and be encouraged to visit local Filipino food businesses. You can play the part of being our social media partners by liking and sharing posts and images about Filipino food and our very exciting Filipino-Canadian foodscape. When you post about Filipino food and about your experience, you help us propel this initiative when you use these hashtags:
